Official Summer Soundtrack ‘11, Part 3:  Post Paradise by The Holidays

I was first introduced to The Holidays last week by a fellow Swarthmore student describing the group as being an “Australian surf rock band”.  Being from the golden shores of Southern California, I have a huge liking for surf rock music and The Holidays fully met my expectations for this catchy genre of music.  The Holidays hail from Sydney, Australia and released their first LP, Post Paradise, in the fall of 2010.  When I listen to this CD, my mind wanders to sun-drenched beaches, ocean water, and salty air.  Thus, these tunes are perfectly suited for my mood during these summer months.  The current song that is catching my fancy is “Golden Sky”, which you can hear above.  The bongo percussion, strummy electric guitar, and lyrics about a paradise land are just what this toasty month of June ordered.
